I attached an MKE 200 to an EOS R10

I attached an MKE 200 to an EOS R10

I attached the Sennheiser camera-on microphone "MKE 200" to Canon's mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera "EOS R10".

Let's look at its appearance when attached, and the differences in sound quality.

Appearance

Here's an appearance comparison of three patterns: unattached, attached, and with the wind shield (dead cat) attached.

Since the EOS R10 is originally too small, the MKE 200 has quite a presence.

It feels about twice as big, haha.

I'll take it if I want to record sound properly, like at a children's sports day, but
since I chose the EOS R10 primarily for its portability, I probably won't carry it around for everyday outings or travel.

By the way, it can be attached to the EOS R10's accessory shoe without any issues.

Sound Quality Comparison

Please watch the video for a sound quality comparison.

The EOS R10's built-in microphone isn't bad, but it picks up a 'thumping' noise when wind hits it.

And when the MKE 200 is attached, the sound is clearly crisp and clear.

Even if wind hits it, it's not that noticeable.

Usability

I usually record my child's growth indoors, and since the sound quality is good, I leave it attached when I need to quickly shoot a video.

However, I probably wouldn't bother attaching it when carrying it outside.

There's just one thing to be careful about:

If you touch the connector part during recording, a very loud noise will be picked up.
If you record without noticing, it will be ruined, so you need to be careful while shooting.

The sound quality difference might only be noticeable when compared, but I'm glad I have one to shoot even slightly higher quality videos.
