Why LYP Premium is a better deal via browser than via app

When registering for LYP Premium, instead of registering via apps like 'Yahoo! Shopping', you can get a cheaper monthly fee and register more affordably by registering from a browser like Safari.
This is because registering via an app requires paying fees to the App Store or Google Play. Registering via a browser allows you to avoid these fees.
This time, I actually tried registering for LYP Premium, so let's see how much I saved.

By the way, it seems that a campaign is currently underway where you can get a total of 5,000 yen worth of PayPay points that can be used on Yahoo! Shopping and other platforms when you register for LYP Premium. (As of June 2026)
2,000 points are awarded upon registration, followed by 2,000 points after 2 months, and 1,000 points after 3 months. (Total 5,000 points)
The first month and the following month are free periods, so to receive all 5,000 points, you need to subscribe for at least two months, the 3rd and 4th months. (Monthly fee 508 yen)
In other words, you pay 1,016 yen and get 5,000 points, which means you effectively receive 3,984 points.
I also registered using this campaign, so I'll show you the actual steps I took!
Table of Contents
Price via app
First, let's look at the price via the app.
When you open the LYP Premium link from Yahoo! Shopping
It shows a monthly fee of 650 yen.
Proceeding further, a monthly 650 yen subscription starts via the App Store.
Registering via the app includes fees to the App Store, making this monthly fee more expensive. (For Android, it's a fee to Google Play)
Price via browser
Next, let's look at the price via browser.
Access the LYP Premium website.

Then, it shows a monthly fee of 508 yen.
You can register at a more affordable monthly fee than via apps like Yahoo! Shopping (650 yen/month).
Registered by applying the 'Total 5,000 yen worth of PayPay points present!' campaign
When I actually proceeded, I saw this screen:
Upon membership registration, 2,000 PayPay points, usable on Yahoo! Shopping, were immediately awarded!
You can use it for free until the end of the month following your registration. (As of June 2026)
Be aware that billing will start after that.
*Free periods and campaign details may change, so always check the latest information.
The 'PayPay points (limited time)' received in this campaign can only be used at:
and are limited to these.
Please note that they cannot be used for regular in-store PayPay payments.
I registered for LYP in January, and 2,000 points were successfully awarded at the end of the second month,
and 1,000 points at the end of the third month.

By the way, after receiving all 5,000 points, I tried to cancel LYP Premium and ended up getting an additional 1,000 points (effectively 492 points) as a continuation bonus, which I've also written about below.
That concludes the story of how LYP Premium can be registered more affordably via a browser than via an app, and my experience applying the 'Total 5,000 yen worth of PayPay points present!' campaign.
