How to change the thumbnail face photo in the "People" album in the Photos app

Here's how to change the thumbnail photo in the People album, which was added to the Photos app in iOS 10 in 2016!

(It's often the case that a strange photo gets chosen, right? lol)
Table of Contents
Steps for iOS 18 and later
The layout of the Photos app was refreshed in iOS 18.
The top half shows all photos, and the bottom half shows the menus, so scroll down.

Once you reach "People," long-press the person whose thumbnail you want to change.

Tap "Edit Name & Photo"

You can change the thumbnail photo from "Edit Key Photo." You can also specify the name, and finally, save by tapping "Done" in the top right.

Steps for iOS 17 and earlier
Open the "People" screen and tap the person whose thumbnail you want to change.

Tap "Select" in the top right.

Check the photo you want to change to, then tap Share in the bottom left.

Tap "Set Key Photo."

This thumbnail photo is apparently called a "Key Photo."
Then, the thumbnail photo changed!
