While MUFG's credit card offers up to 20% Global Point cashback on purchases at eligible stores,
From October 2025, the exchange of Amazon Gift Cards via the MUFG Card app will end.
From now on, exchanges must be made via the WEB service.
So, I tried exchanging Global Points for an Amazon Gift Card via the WEB service, but it was very confusing, so I've summarized the exchange procedure in this article.
By the way, charging to "Global Point Wallet" is the most rewarding way to use Global Points.
For Amazon Gift Cards,
Global Points are converted at 1pt = approx. 2.8 yen, but
for Global Point Wallet,
Global Points are converted at 1pt = 5 yen.
Amazon Gift Cards are convenient, but you can get a higher return by charging to Global Point Wallet and paying with it on Amazon.

Application Procedure
Open the MUFG Card app and tap on the "Points" section.
(Alternatively, you can log in directly to the WEB service in your browser.)
Tap "Exchange for products" under "Other Point Applications".
Your browser will open and automatically log you into the WEB service.
Tap "Point Application".
A page that is not optimized for smartphones, and is very difficult to use, will open.

First, let's open "View Product Catalog".
The product catalog will open.
Scroll down and you'll find Amazon Gift Cards.
This time, I want to exchange for 350pt, so I'll note down product number "251131".
Product numbers may change. Always check for the latest information.
Go back to the previous page and tap "Select Product".
Enter the product number "251131" in the "Select by Product Number" field and tap "Search".
Everyone feels frustrated by how difficult it is to use.
Check that the product and quantity are correct, then tap "Apply".
Tap "Confirm".
Check that the delivery address is correct, enter your card number, and tap "Apply".
Application complete. Good job.
A confirmation email arrived shortly after.
It's very disappointing that it used to be relatively easy to exchange for Amazon Gift Cards within the MUFG Card app.
Are they trying to make it difficult to exchange so people won't do it?

Two and a half weeks after applying, the Amazon Gift Card arrived via simplified registered mail.
Since it's simplified registered mail, you must be present to receive it.
Inside the envelope was a piece of paper with the gift card number written on it.
This is a waste of resources and labor costs; it would definitely be better if they sent the gift code by email.
I think it's out of step with the times.
Could you please bring it back somehow...?

I only understood the procedure after seeing it introduced on this site. Thank you very much.
It's been about three weeks for me, and I still haven't received it. I was planning to cancel the card after it arrived safely, just in case...
It was the same when there was a period (nearly two months from August!) when Amazon Gift Cards couldn't be exchanged due to system maintenance, with almost no announcements about bad news, and only quietly continuing to advertise high cashback rates. I'm appalled, thinking, "Is this what Mitsubishi does?"
