Suddenly, when you hand 5 salmon fillets to someone,
rather than handing them over raw,
it's smarter to freeze them and hand them over in a Ziploc bag, right?
It's the same when handing over files via cloud storage like Box.
Instead of uploading many files directly to the cloud,
it's easier for both parties to hand them over in a format called zip compression.
I'll explain in detail, so don't worry.

How to zip compress and upload
I've prepared a folder containing 217 images.
Right-click the folder and click "Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder".
Then it becomes like this:
The zip file is complete.
Drag and drop this zip file to Box to upload it.
Once the upload is complete, it's OK to delete this zip file.
For Mac
For Mac, right-click the folder and click "Compress "○○"".
The zip file is complete.
Upload this zip file to Box.
Once the upload is complete, it's OK to delete this zip file.
How to download and unzip
For the recipient
I'll also explain how to unzip, which is the reverse of compression.
Right-click the downloaded zip file and click "Extract All".
Click "Extract"
Then it returned to the original folder.
After that, it's OK to delete this zip file.

Double-click the zip file.
Then it returned to the original folder.
After that, it's OK to delete this zip file.
Speed Comparison: Why is it easier?
I'll try uploading a 250MB folder containing 114 photos.
The upload time was 48 seconds.(Average of 2 measurements)
Next, I'll try uploading a 249MB zip-compressed file.
The upload time was 20 seconds.(Average of 2 measurements)
Next, I'll measure the download speed from Box to PC.
When I downloaded the folder I just uploaded,
the time taken was 41 seconds.(Average of 2 measurements)
Next, when I downloaded the zip file,
the time taken was 20 seconds.(Average of 2 measurements)

Both upload and download of zip files completed in less than half the time.
So, for the sake of the person downloading, let's zip compress many files before sharing them. That was the point.
