Review of Zojirushi steam humidifier "EE-MB20": Appearance and actual power consumption measurement!
I purchased Zojirushi's steam humidifier 'EE-MB20'.
It's a reliable domestic manufacturer, with a subtle light green color that blends into any interior.
It's a hygienic steam type, packed with features safe for families with children, such as a magnetic plug, child lock, and anti-tip hot water spill prevention.
Since it's a steam type, its power consumption is a bit high, but I really like this product, so I'm reviewing it.

About the Appearance
From the front.
The subtle light green color blends into the interior.
There are only two buttons, minimal.
The top power button switches between "Standard → Silent → Off"
The bottom button switches between "Off Timer 2h → 4h → Timer Off" and a long press activates "Child Lock".
By the way, regarding the "Silent Mode" which can be used during sleep, I certainly didn't notice it while sleeping.
If you listen closely, you might hear a "gurgling" sound when it's boiling, but it's not constant.
The height is about the same as a mattress.
The top view looks like this.
When opening the lid, slide ①Unlock upwards while pressing the front of ②the knob.
It's unavoidable due to the anti-tip hot water spill prevention structure, but it has a slight knack and requires both hands.
The inside with the lid open looks like this.
There are lines drawn inside, allowing you to check guidelines such as "8h for standard operation" and "16h for silent operation" while pouring water.
Also, it can hold up to 1.8L of water.
About the Functions
First, the "Magnetic Plug"
This kind of consideration is typical of Japanese manufacturers, which is great.
Next, the "Child Lock"
Press and hold the timer button for about 3 seconds to activate the child lock, and a red lamp will light up.
Hot steam comes out, so it's important to ensure it's out of reach from the start, but it's reassuring even when children are old enough to play pranks.
About Power Consumption
Now for the (perhaps) long-awaited topic of power consumption.
Here are the results after running in silent mode for approximately 11 hours.
Based on recent electricity prices, it's approximately 56 yen. Dividing by 11, the calculation is about
5 yen per hour.
The Zojirushi official website specifications state "power consumption during boiling startup is 650W" and "power consumption in silent mode is 134W".
Our measured average power consumption was approximately 142W (1.56kWh ÷ 11h × 1000), so it seems to be largely as per specifications.
While it has power consumption comparable to an air conditioner's heating, given that a hygienic steam type was chosen, this is a point that must be overlooked.
However, steam humidifiers also have the advantage of emitting warm steam, which can assist with heating in winter.
That concludes the review of Zojirushi's steam humidifier 'EE-MB20'.
As a humidifier, it's a bit on the pricier side, but the satisfaction is high, and it's a product I feel I'll use for a long time.
